Valorant 10 Mans and Elo Leaderboards on Discord

Elo-balanced 10 mans, captain map veto, and a ladder that survives a smurf.

Almost nothing that makes Valorant 10 mans hard happens inside the game. Getting ten people who are online and willing, splitting them into two teams nobody immediately complains about, agreeing a map, and remembering by next week who actually won — that is the work, and it is all administrative. Most communities do it by hand: someone pings a role, waits, captains pick, and results go into a spreadsheet or nowhere at all.

That holds up for a handful of nights. It stops holding up somewhere around twenty active players, which is also the point at which the teams start feeling unfair, because captains pick on reputation and reputation lags reality by about two months.

A rated queue replaces all of it. Players join with a button, teams are drawn to minimise the Elo gap between them, the map comes out of a veto instead of an argument, and the result updates everyone's rating the moment it is reported. The ladder is not there to tell anyone how they compare to Radiant — it is there to answer "who should be on which team tonight", which is a much easier question and the only one your queue needs to get right.

Setting up a Valorant leaderboard

The decisions that are specific to Valorant. Everything else follows the general setup guide.

  1. 1

    Rate players, not teams

Teams in 10 mans are re-drawn every match, so a team rating has nothing stable to attach to. Use Player (Specific Format) at 5v5 — every player carries one rating earned in the format they actually play, and the queue has a real number to balance on. Player Global (All) is the alternative if you also run 1v1s or off-size nights and want a single figure across all of them.

  2. 2

    Balanced teams, not captains

Set Team Formation to Balanced Teams and the bot draws the split that minimises the rating gap. Captain modes exist (Captains — Highest Elo, Volunteer, Host Picks) and are genuinely more fun for some groups, but they re-introduce exactly the reputation bias the ratings were meant to remove. Start balanced; switch if your players ask for it.

  3. 3

Veto the map, do not vote on it

Create a pool with the maps you actually play, then set Map Voting Strategy to Captains Ban (no reroll). Alternating bans down to one map is the format everyone already knows from ranked, and unlike a simple vote it cannot land on the map four people hate. Simple Vote with a Map Vote Timer is the lighter-weight option if your group would rather not appoint captains at all.

  4. 4

Deal with dodges before they become a culture

Turn on Voice-Join Enforcement: a player who queues and never joins voice is removed and put on a cooldown, automatically, without anyone having to be the person who complains about it. Pair it with Match Cooldown so an instant re-queue after a dodge is not free.

  5. 5

    Seeding new players

Leave new players on the default starting rating unless you have a reason not to. If a known smurf joins, /set_rating player places them where they belong immediately rather than letting them farm ten wins on the way up — which is the single fastest way to make a new ladder feel broken to everyone below them.
